The Journey

Dr. Supratik Kar is a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Kean University, NJ, USA. Previously he worked as a post-doctoral research associate in ICN at Jackson State University, Mississippi, USA with Prof. Jerzy Leszczynski.  He has completed his B. Pharmacy (2008) and M. Pharmacy (2010) degree from Jadavpur University, India securing first position (Gold Medalist/Valedictorian) in both degrees. He has earned his Ph.D. (2015) from Jadavpur University, India. He completed his master's and Ph.D. thesis under the guidance of Prof. Kunal Roy. He is a former visiting researcher at the University of Gdańsk, Poland with Marie-Curie research fellowship Under Prof. Tomasz Puzyn. He has experience in Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationships (QSAR), Computer Aided Drug Designing (CADD), chemometric modeling and machine learning studies for over Twelve years. He has published 82 peer-reviewed research articles and review articles (50+ Q1 and Q2 journals) (In: Nature Scientific Report, Green Chemistry, Expert Opinion in Drug Discovery, Expert Opinion on Drug Safety, Nano Energy, Nanoscale, Nature Computational Materials, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Chemosphere, Toxicology In Vitro, ACS Omega, Journal of Chemical Information Modeling, Environmental International, Molecular Informatics, Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety, etc.); and 21 book chapters. He has also coauthored two highly cited and popular QSAR related books entitled “Understanding the Basics of QSAR for Applications in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Risk Assessment” (Elsevier, 2015) and “A Primer on QSAR/QSPR Modeling: Fundamental Concepts” (Springer, 2015).

 

Dr. Kar’s work has been cited 5264 times in other peer-reviewed journal articles according to Google Scholar with an h-index of 36 till today. He serves as an associate editor for the Frontiers in Pharmacology [Experimental Pharmacology Drug Discovery] (Frontiers) and International Journal of Quantitative Structure-Property Relationships (IJQSPR) (IGI-Global publishers). He is serving as an Editorial Board member of the Journal of Clinical Medicine (MDPI), Pharmaceuticals (MDPI), Current Drug Metabolism (Bentham), Pharmacogenomics Research and Personalized Medicine (AME) and Interdisciplinary Journal of Applied Nanotechnology Research (IGI-Global). He is also reviewer board member for Polymers (MDPI) journal and Informatics and Computational Methods [Frontiers in Natural Products] (Bentham). Dr. Kar has already conducted 261 reviews as a reviewer and 17 as an editor for 60+ reputed peer-reviewed journals till today.
